M'acabo d'assabentar que en Jaume no te vídeos del Palau...

Mentre no ens arribin d'una altre font us deixo els que he trobat per la xarxa. No se qui els ha fet però moltes gracies! son genials!!

Concert de The Wandengues a l'Església de Lurdes

Mentre arriben els vídeos del Palau, us adjunto unes fotos del concert que The Wandengues va oferir a l'església de Lurdes el passat dissabte 17 de Desembre amb motiu de la Marató de tv3.

L'organitzador de tots aquest actes del Poble Sec es en Josep Guzman, un nou membre del grup que aviat el veurem cantar entre nosaltres.

Aquest es el segon concert que fem en aquesta església i dissabte passat es va consolidar el fet de pertànyer en aquesta parròquia gracies al caliu del públic i sobretot per la bona acollida de'n Joan, el mossèn.

L'univers sencer es va confabular per regalar-nos aquesta nit tant especial per tots nosaltres del concert amb els Golden Gate Quartet al Palau de la Música.

Bona nit, aquesta es la graella d'actuacions per la Marato de TV3 que es fa al Poble-sec, a mes a mes de participari hi esteu tots convidats.

Un brindis des de les caves Raventós Soler!!

Avui hem anat a les caves Raventós Soler de Sant Sadurní d'Anoia i després de un mega esmorzar de forquilla hem brindat amb el millor cava del món (sense exagerar!) per tres coses:

i també pel Barçaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!

El proper 16 de Desembre tindrem la oportunitat i l'honor de cantar al Palau de la Música amb The Golden Gate Quartet!!

The Golden Gate Quartet

Durant els anys 30 i 40 Jubilee (jubileu) era una forma secularitzada de música de església que era acceptable en clubs nocturns i concerts. El més popular dels quartets de Jubilee, el Golden Gate Quartet, va començar a cantar com Golden Gate Jubilee Quartet en els anys 30, quan eren estudiants a la Booker T. Washington High School de Norfolk, Virgínia. Els membres del quartet eren Willie Johnson (baríton i narrador), Henry Owens (primer tenor), William Langford (segon tenor) i Orlandus Wilson (baix). Els cantants van escollir el seu nom pel seu so musical, i es més probable que estiguessin descrivint les portes del cel que el pont sobre la Badia de San Francisco. Les seves harmonies es van tornar molt sofisticades, adornades amb una gran dosi de jazz i una influència de Mills Brothers que arriba fins a la imitació vocal dels instruments. De fet, al costat dels Mills Brothers, van ser probablement els millors en aquesta tècnica de "sonar com instruments”.

Els Golden Gate Quartet van construir la seva reputació amb les seves actuacions en programes de ràdio locals i concerts en esglésies.

El 1937 van signar contracte amb la filial de Víctor Bluebird i van aplicar el seu so únic de jazz-swing a títols de gospel com ara “Go where I Send Thee”, “The Preacher and the Bear” i “When the Saints Go Marchin’ In”. El 4 d’Agost de 1937 van enregistrar unes sorprenents 14 cançons en dues hores a l'Hotel Charlotte de Carolina del Nord. Al mateix any van actuar al programa de rádio "Magic Key Hour" de la NBC.

El 1939 van estar treballant fora de Nova York i en Clyde Riddick va substituir a William Langford.

El juny de 1940 van enregistrar diversos temes amb el llegendari cantant de folk Leadbelly, que van sortir al mercat al 1941 amb el segell de la companyia mare de Bluebird, Víctor. Per aquells dies ja havien tret la part de ‘Jubilee’ del seu nom i es presentàvem estrictament com els Golden Gate Quartet.

Encara que el seu repertori gravat des de 1937 fins a 1940 inclou majoritariament cançons de gospel i Jubilee, van gravar dos 78s de pop-jazz: "Stormy Weather" i "My Prayer". Un dels aspectes més destacats d'aquest període va ser una actuació per a la investidura del president Franklin Roosevelt, que els va portar a una sèrie d'aparicions a la Casa Blanca, a petició d'Eleanor Roosevelt.

Al 1941 es van canviar a la filial de Columbia Okeh i tota la seva producció enregistrada durant els anys de la guerra va tenir aquest segell. El disc de més exit d'aquests registres va ser una versió de "Comin’in on a Wing on a Prayer" el 1943. També va ser en el ‘43 quan en Wilson i Johnson es van unir a l'esforç de la guerra a petició de l'Oncle Sam, i Alton Bradley i Cliff Givens els van reemplaçar, respectivament. Wilson i Johnson es van tornar a juntar al 1946 i Givens es va unir als Ink Spots.

El seu èxit discogràfic mes gran va arribar al 1947 amb la cançó "Shadrack".

Al 1948, el grup va aparèixer en el musical de la RKO “Ha nascut una cançó”, protagonitzada per Benny Goodman, Danny Kaye i Louis Armstrong. Willie Johnson aviat va marxar per agafar el lideratge dels Jubalaires, i Orville Brooks es va unir als Golden Gate Quartet. Més tard aquell mateix any van passar de Columbia a Mercuri i, juntament amb els temes habituals del Jubilee, van afegir uns quants 78s de R&B i pop com "Will I Find My Love Today”.
Cap el 1957 el quartet, que ara incloïa a Caleb J.C. Ginyard dels Dixiaires, seguien l'exemple d'altres grups negres Americans, com els The Delta Rhythm Boys, que estaven trobant acollides més càlides a Europa. El 1959, els Golden Gate Quartet es van traslladar a París i van aconseguir un contracte de dos anys per actuar en un Casino parisenc. Mentre estaven amb base a Europa van gravar per EMI-Regne Unit, Pathé Marconi de França i EMI-Alemanya, creant més de 50 LPs.

A finals de 1970 (Orlandus) Orlando Wilson i Riddick Clyde eren els únics que quedaven originàriament cantant amb Calvin Williams (segon tenor) i Pablo Brembly (baríton). Amb els anys el grup va acumular un quadern de viatge de actuacions en 76 països.

Els Golden Gate Quartet, un dels grups vocals veritablement gran, han estat font d'inspiració per a molts grups de rhythm and blues dels anys 50.

Ja ens han arribat els primers vídeos del concert que vam fer el passat 28 de Maig a la Llar d'Avis de Sarrià.

Ahir vam tenir l'honor de conèixer el Jordi i el Fran, director i col·laborador, respectivament, d’una associació que es diu Prochavales, i que tal com ells la defineixen, te el propòsit de fomentar l’art, l’ensenyament i l’esport a barris marginals amb la intenció de integrar ‘chavals’ en un mon plé de possibilitats.

Ahir vam cantar per ells a fi de participar en algun concert benèfic que organitzin.

Primer Stage Wandengue de la historia!

El proper dissabte 22 de Gener ens acostarem una vegada mes cap a les terres de la Berta per celebrar el primer Stage Wandengue!

Serà a Casa Valldeperas que està a la Urbanització Can Rosell (Subirats).

I no només cantarem i menjarem sino que també gaudirem del paisatge, del bosc animat

i d’una àmplia zona d’esbarjo amb tobogan, gronxadors i tirolina!!!
